So?
Well, at the very same time, 10:00 AM here in the CST, you can experience the production right here in Auburn on the big screen at the Carmike Wynnsong 16 (pictured at right, bottom). Then, at 2:00 PM, the theater will show an encore which will repeat on 6/8 at 7:30 PM.
I've heard that it's a great experience and would love to see some comments from people who have been. Theaters all over the world are simulcasting these best-in-the-world productions of opera and ballet. Here's the website for Ballet in Cinema and here's the one for Opera in Cinema, both run by Emerging Pictures.
Verdi's Macbeth from The Royal Opera House will play on June 13 (1:30 PM) with an encore on June 22 (7:30 PM). Then, Children of Paradise, a ballet by Marc Olivier-Dupin, will play from the Paris Opera Ballet on July 9 (12:30 PM) with an encore on July 20 (7:30 PM). I'll try to keep up with any schedule changes.
My last post has some other soon-coming events.
We are SO lucky to have this here, and these productions are absolutely thrilling. Close-up camera work lends a sharp and intense dimension to these pieces, gives you an intimacy you'll not see any other way. I sat through de Valkyrie TWICE. Have had to miss a couple I had really wanted to see, being out of town. But I so appreciate Carmike doing this and hope with all my heart that it continues. Let's build the support for it! Which you are hereby doing and for which I thank you.
