Jane Drake (Audio!) and Other Nearby Jazz, US Army Chorus with Atlanta Symphony and More

Jane Drake (pictured) will perform with her trio this Thursday (6/30) from 8-11 PM at Piccolo. Below I've embedded a moving rendition of "I've Got It Bad and That Ain't Good" from her 2005 release, Brand New Woman, which you can buy through her website. Other Jazz in Auburn, Columbus, Tuskegee and Montgomery

This Friday and Saturday (7/1-2), jazz at Piccolo is off, but Sunday's (7/3) jazz brunch at Arricia will continue. Musicians will be Jack Dresher on bass, Sam Fredericks on drums and Joe Thomas on piano. Brunch is from 11-2.

Friday night (7/1), Tuskegee's Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center will continue its weekly dinner and jazz program. The music starts at 6:30 PM after dinner begins service at 5:30. Saxophonist Sam Williams and the Jazzmatics play.

Also on Friday (7/1), Silent Threat is on schedule for jazz at The Loft in Columbus from 7-9 PM **EASTERN TIME**. Personnel is Jeramy Stewart on piano, Charles Robinson on alto sax, Jeremiah Duhart on bass and Eric Rose on drums.

And in Montgomery, the Sunday (7/3) Jazz Jam will be at 1048 Jazz and Blues from 9:30 PM - 12:30 AM.


Atlanta Symphony Orchestra

On Thursday afternoon (6/30), the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra together with the Atlanta Youth Orchestra will perform their Side-by-side Concert. Here's the event page. They'll play Holst’s “Jupiter” from The Planets, the "Overture Fantasy" from Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, John Williams’s Star Wars Theme and more.

Then on Monday, July 4, the Atlanta Symphony will present its All-American Celebration. The US Army Chorus will be featured. Together they'll perform "patriotic standards, singalong anthems and classical thunder" (from the event page), ending up with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. The full program is listed on ASO's website. There will be fireworks.
