[UPDATED] December 2017, Week 2 Music Events ~ The Sound Wall Joining Top 25

Rob & Jen Slocumb at their new project, The Sound Wall
I dropped a Top-25 and added a new one. I've had to do that a lot lately due to finding a few new venues and series I hadn't known of, or that were new since I went dark with this blog project in 2016. Goodbye Opera Birmingham. Welcome The Sound Wall.

We need a source for opera nearby. Every year (semester?), AU music does its very popular Opera Workshop, going on right now, actually, with two more showings Tuesday 11/14 and Thursday 11/16 (AU music calendar). The local cinema used to do simulcasts of Emerging Pictures' selection of opera, ballet, and independent film, but Emerging Pictures is no more. If you crave opera, you'll have to find it in Atlanta or Birmingham, or catch the simulcasts (and re-runs) when regional cinemas in Montgomery, Columbus, and LaGrange play Fathom Events' things. I'll mention those.

Run by Rob & Jen Slocumb of Martha's Trouble fame, The Sound Wall is a new multi-use recording studio with an artist residence. They're hosting concerts and meals à la Standard Deluxe. At the moment, it looks like the focus is local artists, and I expect this adventurous duo will branch out as the project matures. They might even do an opera now and then, who knows?

Below are the events I found from my top-25 sources list during the second full Monday-to-Sunday week of December. I highlighted my top pick for the week. At the time of this post, the first full week of December has not happened yet, and those events are here. I feel like I'm missing a lot of noteworthy music at churches. I'll get around to figuring that out. If you know of anything, send it to me.
