[UPDATED] May 2018, Week 1 Live-Music Events

Below are live-music events for the first full Monday-to-Sunday week of May. These are mostly mined from our top-25 list of venues and event websites at this link. I have begun a page of standing events that involve live-music. Click Standing Events above or earlier in this sentence.

Big events like Boudin & Beignets on May 11 clearly involve live music as more of a garnish than main course. But I like to highlight the musicians because they make these cool events even cooler by being there. It would be great if the College of Ag would list country band Dumas Drive (facebook.com/dumasdrive) on its promotional materials, tho.

I'm in blue running the series at the museum. David Banks (drdav.org/music) is a Gospel-jazz leader, promoter, and impressario who has been entertaining us every spring for the last five years or so. His music is very cool, very smooth, very Gospel. In yellow is my pick of the week, Delbert McClinton (delbert.com) in Montgomery, but it's hard not to go with Maceo Parker (maceo.com) in Birmingham, and Traveller at Standard Deluxe sounds really good online. -PMc
