Eastman Guitar Prof. Bob Snieider Appearing in Auburn Thursday and Friday (4/18/13-4/19/13)

We are fortunate around here that the University of Rochester's famed Eastman School of Music is well-represented in Auburn University's music department. There are three that I know of who hold degrees from there, but I haven't checked everyone's bio on the faculty page. There could be more. Its degrees are coveted, and it has produced scores of highly successful and some legendary artists. This Wikipedia article claims David Diamond, Eric Ewazen, Renée Fleming, Steve Gadd, Ron Carter, Donald Hunsberger, Robert Ward, Lew Soloff and Chuck Mangione among many, many others that even I have heard of.

Bob Sneider's title at Eastman is the following: Eastman School of Music Asst Prof Jazz Guitar / Senior Instructor Eastman Community Music School. He's playing Thursday night (4/18) at Goodwin Hall with Eastman doctor and AU jazz/sax instructor Mike Pendowski. In addition to teaching at Eastman, Sneider's bio reports he has shared stages, studios and tour buses with the likes of Mangione, Nat Adderly, Joey Defrancesco, Chris Potter, and more.

Performing with the Eastman duo will be AU students Sidney Simmons on bass, Jonathan Lynn on piano, and Andrew Sykes on vibes. Then on Friday night (4/18), Sneider will perform again with the AU Jazz Ensemble in the band room in Goodwin Music Building (map). The Thursday and Friday night performances are ticketed events ($10/$5).

Sneider will do a rhythm section clinic Thursday at 3:30 and an improvisation clinic Friday at 3:00. Both are in the band room, both are free, and both are open to the public.
